In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, Impact 100 created the Next Step Awards to celebrate nonprofit organizations with total budgets of $500,000 or less. These awards are a “Next Step” for the nonprofit recipients, and also a “Next Step” for the Impact 100 organization.  We’ll soon get to meet the award recipients.
We’re delighted that these awards are enabling Impact 100 to learn about the smaller, grass roots and diverse organizations within our community.  These nonprofits have creative, exciting project ideas – proposals we rarely get to see since the traditional $100,000 Impact grants usually go to larger, well established nonprofits.
In April, smaller nonprofits were invited to submit proposals for the Next Step Awards – projects that addressed a community need, were innovative, collaborative, and transformative.  Awards were for $7,500 to $20,000 per organization for a total community award amount of $60,000.
Over 50 proposals were submitted – including many creative, exciting, breakthrough ideas. Over 30 Impact 100 members worked together to review the proposals and select the awardees. The review discussions were animated and dynamic, and the recipient decision was unanimous.
A huge thanks to Rose Palmieri for orchestrating the award process, and to Delane Starliper (Next Steps Awards Committee Chair), Janet Sullivan and Portia Dyrenforth for facilitating the Committee.  Thanks also to the over 30 Impact 100 members who participated on the committee.
The applicants and awardees are currently being notified, and the Awardees will be announced the second week of August.  Stay tuned to learn about these innovative awardees, and to meet them in person at the Annual Awards Celebration on September 8th.
