President’s Message – April 2017

Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. John Dewey

Our March Educational (EDU) event was held at the beautiful Mercantile Library and was attended by almost 90 members and guests who learned about sustainability as it relates to both funding and service for nonprofits in our community from representatives of UpSpring and the Butler Foundation. The crowd at this informative event also enjoyed an update from 2014 recipient Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati while sharing delicious soup and bread from local nonprofit LaSoupe.

The Focus Area Committees are back at work this month and will receive training to begin reviewing 31 applications from agencies invited to submit grants.  There are many creative, strong grant proposals that have the potential to make a lasting impact on our community.  This year once again promises stimulating site visits and difficult choices as we work to identify the agencies that will be Finalists – and then select FOUR Grant Recipients in September.

The Impact 100 Board recently set a goal to increase our infrastructure support in order to be able to accommodate our recent growth in members from 290 in 2013 to 470 in 2017. We continue to analyze how we can best serve our members and the community.

Thank you for your membership and making a difference in others lives.

All the best,

Donna Broderick
President, Impact 100
