Who are you?

My name is Janelle Selembo, my husband and I recently relocated here from Atlanta. I am the mother of three grown children and have been married for 28 years. For most of my life, I have been fortunate enough to share my love of dance through teaching. I enjoy yoga, reading, hiking, and kayaking.

What excites you about being an Impact 100 Member?

What excites me most about Impact 100 is how committed we are to discovering the needs of our community while making a real and measurable difference.  I have also enjoyed the opportunity to work with so many strong and generous women.  Having recently moved to the area, Impact 100 has helped me connect with women in the community who have shown me kindness, compassion and friendship. I am truly grateful.

Could you provide a brief description of your favorite Impact 100 moment, if you have one?

By far my favorite moment was last year’s Awards Ceremony. Having just arrived in Cincinnati I attended as a guest. Not only was I impressed by the work being done, but, thanks to thoughtful and outgoing women, that night would provide the groundwork for relationships that would make me feel at home here and engage me in the community. At one point during the evening, someone would serendipitously stop at my table to gather her papers; she would end up helping me find one of the most impactful volunteer jobs I have ever had. I would get a “shout out” during membership drive, sign up, and enjoy the journey:-)
