Project Description

Project:
Mobile Medical Unit

Grant Award:
$129,000

The mission of Cincinnati Health Network is to improve access to care and enhance the overall health status of the people of the Greater Cincinnati area, primarily the medically underserved and high-risk population. The Cincinnati Health Network plans, coordinates and provides delivery of high-quality, cost-effective and comprehensive health services.

The Impact 100 grant of $129,000 funded the Health Care for the Homeless Program. This program utilizes a mobile medical unit which travels to various shelters and street locations to maximize the availability of comprehensive health care services to people experiencing homelessness. The Impact 100 grant enabled the Cincinnati Health Network to purchase a new medical van to replace the previous unit which was in significant disrepair and thus unable to service the homeless as needed. The new medical van has enabled the program to vastly increase the Cincinnati Health Network’s reach within the community (~2,000 people/year) with two private exam rooms, laboratory, storage for equipment/supplies, and medical records.
