The Washing Well Program
Community Matters exists to remove barriers to opportunity so that we can create a thriving community with our neighbors. The Impact 100 grant will fund the building of a community laundromat in the Community Matters complex to allow Lower Price Hill residents access to laundry facilities, which are not currently available in the area.
By the outfitting of a brand new community laundromat called the Washing Well, they will lease and install washers and dryers, hire a part-time worker from Lower Price Hill community through the social enterprise, and serve 300 families over two years through a dignified laundry space. In engaging the local community, they will connect 150 individuals to other opportunities and wraparound services offered through Community Matters’ Opportunity Connector. Earned revenue from the laundry, as well as laundry bag sales in the community, will help sustain the Washing Well.
