Healthy Harvest Mobile Market
The Freestore Foodbank’s mission to provide food and services, create stability and further self-reliance for people in crisis led them to ideate the Mobile Market as a new initiative that was inspired by the success of a current program, the Mobile Food Pantry. Impact 100’s grant will promote healthy eating through the purchase of a mobile market that will sell fresh produce in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region, reaching families which do not have access to fresh, nutritious foods.
With Impact 100 funding, Freestore Foodbank will outfit an automobile that will serve as the Mobile Market, serving 10 food desert stops in Hamilton, Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties weekly with fresh, nutritious foods. First year operations of this initiative will allow two deliveries per week to the 10 researched sites, supporting 250 families per week with healthy food access. In efforts to best support families, Freestore Foodbank will also use the Mobile Market as a space to offer wrap-around services by social services representatives once per month in each location.
