The Challenge

For low-income working mothers, a car breakdown isn’t just an inconvenience—it can be a financial emergency. Without reliable transportation, it becomes nearly impossible to get to work, take children to school, or attend medical appointments. A single unexpected repair can derail progress toward employment and stability.

The Transformation

With a 2022 grant from Impact 100, Samaritan Car Care Clinic (SCCC) launched an expanded initiative to support women actively working to improve their lives. In partnership with Brighton Center’s Center for Employment Training, SCCC provided critical car repairs—up to $1,500 per participant—paired with financial education and personalized coaching.

This combination of practical assistance and financial literacy helped ensure that women weren’t just getting back on the road—they were building the knowledge and confidence to stay on track.

The Impact

  • 60 low-income working mothers received major vehicle repairs
  • Each family received up to $1,500 in repairs to restore reliable transportation
  • 60 participants engaged in financial education workshops
  • Ongoing one-on-one financial coaching supports long-term stability
  • Stronger referral network built through partnerships with local agencies

Every mother deserves a path forward.

Join our collective of women removing roadblocks to opportunity.
