In Price Hill, many young people lack access to consistent, high-quality arts education and opportunities to lead, grow, and express themselves.
With a transformational grant from Impact 100, MYCincinnati—a free, youth orchestra program—expanded in powerful ways. The funding supported a full-time Program Director, the hiring of additional teaching artists, and the development of innovative programs for students of all ages.
What began as a grassroots music initiative has evolved into a vibrant, community-driven hub for musical excellence, creative exploration, and youth empowerment.
Two moments capture the depth of transformation:
🎻 In 2017, MYCincinnati students performed side-by-side with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra—tackling the emotionally complex Shostakovich 8th Quartet. They practiced for months, reaching a level of mastery that stunned audiences at Music Hall and in their own Price Hill neighborhood.
🎤 Later that year, MYCincinnati’s Ambassador Ensemble collaborated with artist Napoleon Maddox on “Twice the First Time,” a multimedia performance exploring identity, history, and resilience. Students helped compose and perform the piece, connecting the story of conjoined twins born into slavery with themes of race, disability, and modern-day strength.
See how Impact 100’s investment in bold, transformative projects promotes thriving communities throughout the Greater Cincinnati region.
